I am supporting one of our enterprise user’ who is having issues with Teams. She will randomly happens quite often get kicked from a Teams meeting she will be participating in. The user has been working from home since March and the issue has only arisen this past week. This will happen regardless of if she uses her VPN connection or not.

There are no error messages being presented before, during, and right after she is kicked out. Please note she is able to manually rejoin the meeting. This will occur regardless of the device or platform she is using. This will occur on her Teams desktop app, the Teams web app, and even on her mobile phone. During the time periods she is successfully connected to the meeting the quality is at it’s best.

No lag, no slow connection, no nothing. Her Teams account and profile are perfectly fine and have not been modified since this issue started coming up. This will also happen in totally different meetings, it was speculated someone was probably kicking her out but this will happen no matter what meeting she attends participants may be different.

We have performed all the basic troubleshooting possible but doubt it’s Teams itself since again, Desktop App, Web App, and Mobile application all behave the same way. This thread is locked. We have similar issues with a single user who reports “I always get kicked out of Teams unless I initiate the meeting. We have the same issue in our global enterprise environment and to be clear, this is only with Teams web version not desktop client. Our IT department’s response was: ” if you have SharePoint or another application open in another tab, that application session may becomes stale and time out.

If that happens it will subsequently close your Teams session. Before entering Teams meetings, check all of your open tabs and close any that you are not actively using to avoid this issue. This however means you would not be able to have Outlook or anything else open which of course makes no sense. This is either a defect with Teams itself “bug” or there is some setting that is randomly cause folks to lose their connection to Team, even if actively on a meeting which as you can imagine is unacceptable.

Not sure if Microsoft has a fix as this just might be a fallacy in the app and the workaround as some others have stated would be to use an alternate virtual conferencing platform. Its sad however because Stream has great integration and so much potential. I have the same exact issue as initially described above.

I have no problems with Zoom but every time I join teams for a meeting I will let me in for about 30 seconds and then sends me to Teams home and I cannot get back into my meeting. Same thing happens if I am using the windows app or the web based app – whether connected through VPN or not.

Why is this happening and what is the fix? Do not provide tools for people to use when they don’t actually work. I have been a Microsoft fanboy since Win’95 but this is total horse manure.

I have the same issue with my professional account. This issue has only arisen this week. It is exactly the same problem. I can join the meeting. I get kicked out of the meeting with no message or error and rejoin the meeting with no issues. Teams has features that are geared towards integration which I can’t see Zoom doing well such as ability to make Kanban boards via Planner and other cool yet useful tools. As far as video conferencing goes, I feel that is more up Zoom’s alley but stand to be corrected?

I’ve got a user with the same problem — rare she can even stay in 15 minutes without being kicked out and having to rejoin.
